# Getting started

> Your first visit to Community: come in with Geenius OS or by request, pick a side, choose a name and a handle, and ask your first question.

Source: https://community.geenius.io/docs/getting-started/

This walk-through takes about ten minutes.

## 1. Come in

Community is in early access. If you have a Geenius OS account, choose **Sign in with Geenius OS** and you are in at once, with the plan your Geenius OS plan includes. If not, [request access](/request-access/); once the team approves it you choose a plan on the plan page. See [join and sign in](/docs/join-and-sign-in/).

## 2. Pick a side

Choose **Users**, **Developers** or both, then a name and a handle. Your handle is how people mention you. You can read a side you have not joined; posting there takes one tap to join.

## 3. Read the welcome

Each side has a pinned welcome from the team and, on Users, a post on how the community works.

## 4. Search, then ask

Search the side first. If nothing answers it, post in **Help & questions** (or **Dev questions**). See [ask a question](/docs/asking-a-question/).

## 5. Accept

When a reply solves it, press **Accept** on that reply. It shows first from then on.

## Next

Read about [sides and channels](/docs/sides-and-channels/) and the [house rules](/docs/rules/).
